Shower Scene

(3/7/06) What a great way to celebrate my birthday! The only thing that would have made it better would be us showering in our birthday suits -- hehe.

Our day in Anza Borrego Desert State Park was a relaxing one as we first toured the remodeled Visitor Center in Borrego Springs with its cool new exhibits and checked out the rare yellow Ocotillo flower near the front entrance.

We then began our easy hike up to the first palm grove of Borrego Palm Canyon. There were lots of folks on the trail. Of course, we were the cutest bunch. The flowers were also blooming nicely in the canyon. Lots of variety. I couldn't identify half of them if I tried. I'm not sure why everyone is so glass-half-empty on this year's desert wildflower bloom. The desert is beautiful right now!

Once we got to the palm grove, we ventured a little into the boulder field to find a nice private area for ourselves. There we sunbathed for about an hour and a half, had lunch, conversed. It was so relaxing laying in the sun. I was able to convince some guys to join me in "the shower". You know how I am ;) The water was not that bad. The hot desert rock heated the canyon stream up nicely. But it was invigorating as you can tell by our shrill screams. To see a video clip of that fun scene, click here.

On our return trip, we heard from other hikers that they saw Big Horn Sheep. As much as we tried, we couldn't spot them. Knowing us we probably walked right passed them by a couple feet.

At the end of the hike we enjoyed Becka's Homo Eca's delights. I even had a couple beers since Mike volunteered to drive us home. Cheers!

Everyone on the trip was brand new to the group, except for me; I'm such a has-been. I even convinced my honey to come on this trip. Mike had a great time as did everyone else; they signed up for more.

Anyways, thanks guys for spending the day with me. I couldn't think of a better way to spend my birthday.
